6. Insert the new maintenance cartridge into the slot. IMPORTANT: Be careful to insert the maintenance cartridge correctly. 7. Push in the maintenance cartridge into place; do not use excessive force. NOTE: The front panel will not show the new maintenance cartridge until the door is closed. 8. Close the door. 9. Make sure that you comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations when disposing of ink system consumables. NOTE: In order to start printing, the printer needs all the ink cartridges, printheads, and maintenance cartridge to be installed, and the printer window and maintenance cartridge door to be closed. The front panel asks whether the cartridge is new or used. If used, you are asked to enter the percentage of cloth remaining. This information is used by the printer to estimate when the cartridge will need replacing. HP is unable to warrant the performance of the printing system when operated outside of environmental specifications or when a used, refilled, or counterfeit ink cartridge is installed.
