System-status Indicators Your computer has system-status indicators as follows: b a d c a Drive in use Indicates data is being read from or written to the hard disk drive or optical disc drive when this indicator is lit. b Num Lock Indicates that number lock function is activated when the blue indicator is lit. Number lock function allows some of the keyboard letters to act as numbers for easier numeric input. c Caps Lock Indicate that the Capital Lock function is activated when the blue indicator is lit. The Capital Lock function allows typing in all upper case letters (such as A, B, C). When the Caps Lock light is Off, lower case letters are typed. d Scroll Lock Indicate that the Scroll Lock function is activated when the blue indicator is lit. The Scroll Lock function allows some of the keyboard letters to act as direction keys to allow for easier navigation when only part of the keyboard is required. Chapter 3. Getting Started 25
