Chapter 3 tains all system context. S3 (STR) The S3 state is a low wake-up latency sleeping sate where all system context is lost expect system memory. CPU, cache, and chipset context are lost in this state. Hardware maintains memory context and restores some CPU and L2 configuration context. Run VGABIOS if S3 Resume This item allows the system to initialize the VGA BIOS from S3 (Suspend to RAM) sleep state. Settings are: Auto, Yes and No. Power Management This item is used to select the degree (or type) of power saving. There are three options for power management: User Define Allows end users to configure the suspend mode manually Min Saving Suspend Mode=1 min Max Saving Suspend Mode=1 hour Video Off Method This determines the manner in which the monitor is blanked. Settings are: Blank Screen, V/H SYNC+Blank and DPMS Support. Blank Screen V/H SYNC +Blank DPMS Support This option only writes blanks to the video buffer. This selection will cause the system to turn off the vertical and horizontal synchronization ports and write blanks to the video buffer. Initial display power management signaling. Suspend Type This setting allows you to select the type of Suspend mode. Settings are: Stop Grant (saves the state of the entire system to disk and then powers off the system) and PwrOn Suspend (the CPU and core system remain powered on in a very low-power mode). Standby Mode When enabled and after the set time of system inactivity, all devices except the CPU will be shut off. The settings are: 30 Sec, 1/4/10/20/30 Min, 1 Hour and Disabled. 3-20
