Figure 4-38 • If a user sets VLAN 0, all created VLANs are allowed. • When the system works on the port-based VLAN mode, the VLAN value is always set to 0. Link Aggregation Two types of link aggregation are supported: • Static Trunking: the ports are grouped manually. • Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP): part of IEEE specification (802.3ad) that allows several physical ports to be bundled together to form a single logical channel. Link aggregation allows one or more links to be aggregated together to form a Link Aggregation Group, such that a MAC Client can treat the Link Aggregation Group as if it were a single link. Link aggregation can be used on 10-Mbps, 100-Mbps, or 1000-Mbps Ethernet full duplex ports. Example: A network administrator could combine a group of five 100-Mbps ports into a logical link that will function as a single 500-Mbps port (the actual throughput however will be less than the sum total of the links).
