Menu Guide-The Shooting Menu Making Edges More Distinct: Image Sharpening The camera automatically processes pictures to IMAGE SHARPENING emphasize the borders between light and dark areas of each picture, making the image seem sharper. As this processing takes place after shooting, the effects of sharpening cannot be previewed in the monitor, but they will be visible in the final picture. The image-sharpening menu gives you Auto High Normal Low Off BK Set OFF control over the amount of sharpening performed. Option Description Auto Camera sharpens edges for optimal results; adjustment performed differs from image to image. High Image processed to increase sharpness, making edges more distinct. Normal Camera performs same standard level of sharpening on all images. Low Amount of sharpening reduced below normal level. Off No sharpening performed. When taking pictures that will later be retouched, choose settings of Normal or Low. At settings other than Auto, an image-sharpening icon appears in the monitor. 1632 FINE AUTO 64
