Troubleshooting Symptom Probable cause Action Voice files are not recorded The connected external microphone is in stereo monaural. When recording while an external monaural microphone is connected, sound will only be recorded by the L-channel. Cannot find the recorded Voice File Wrong recording media or folder. Switch to the correct recording media or folder (☞ P.16 to P.18, P.20, P.34, P.39). The recorder was shaken during recording. -------- Noise heard during playback The recorder was placed near a cell phone or fluorescent lamp while recording or during playback. The settings of the connected external microphone do not correspond to those of the recorder. Move the recorder. When a microphone not supported by the plug-in power function is connected, turn the [Plug-inPower] setting to [Off] (☞ P.34, P.37). Unable to erase The file is locked. The file is read-only. 6 Unable to hear any sound from the earphone through The [Rec Monitor] is set to [Off]. the recording monitor Noise is audible through the recording monitor Acoustic feedback is occurring. Unlock the file (☞ P.34, P.39). Cancel the read-only setting of the file on the PC. Turn the [Rec Monitor] setting to [On] (☞ P.34, P.37). When the built-in speaker amps and the like are connected there is a risk that audio feedback will occur while recording. It is recommended that you use earphones for the recording monitor, or turn the [Rec Monitor] to [Off] while recording (☞ P.34, P.37). Conduct adjustments like separating the earphones from the microphone farther, do not point the microphone at the earphones, lower the volume on the recording monitor, and so on. Other Information 64
