English Deutsch Français Italiano Nederlands Español The System Setup menu 07 Chapter 7: The System Setup menu VSX-515 model only Making receiver settings from the System Setup menu The following section shows you how to make detailed settings to specify how you're using the receiver and also explains how to fine-tune individual speaker system settings to your liking. RECEIVER SLEEP FL DIMMER INPUT ATT INPUT SELECTOR DVD/LD DVD 5.1CH TV/SAT DVR/VCR CD-R/ CD TAPE/MD FM AM ADVANCED MIDNIGHT/ STANDARD SURROUND STEREO LOUDNESS TOP MENU SYSTEM SETUP DVD ENTER MENU RETURN RECEIVER RECEIVER CONTROL 1 Press RECEIVER on the remote control, then press the SYSTEM SETUP button. 2 Use / (cursor left/right) to select the setting you want to adjust then press ENTER. • SP SETUP - Specify the size, number, distance and overall balance of the speakers you've connected (see Manual speaker setup below). • IN ASSIG. - Specify what you've connected to the digital and component video inputs (see The Input Assign menu on page 44). • OTHER - Make customized settings to reflect how you are using the receiver (see The Other setup menu on page 45). Manual speaker setup This receiver allows you to make detailed settings to optimize the surround sound performance. You only need to make these settings once (unless you change the placement of your current speaker system or add new speakers). These settings are designed to fine-tune your system, but if you're satisfied with the settings made in Using the Quick Setup on page 10, it isn't necessary to make all of these settings. 1 Select SP SETUP from the System Setup menu then press ENTER. See Making receiver settings from the System Setup menu above. 2 Use / (cursor left/right) to select the setting you want to adjust then press ENTER. If you are doing this for the first time, you may want to adjust these settings in order: • SP SET - Specify the size and number of speakers you've connected (see Speaker setting below). • X.OVER- Specify which frequencies will be sent to the subwoofer (see Crossover network on page 43). • CH LEVEL - Adjust the overall balance of your speaker system (see Channel level on page 43). • SP DISTN. - Specify the distance of your speakers from the listening position (see Speaker Distance on page 43). 41 En
