Step 7: Enjoying Surround Sound After performing the previous Steps and starting playback, you can easily enjoy pre-programmed sound fields that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources. They bring the exciting and powerful sound into your home. Note The sound field can be selected only when [Sound Effect] is set to [Sound Field On] (page 57). When [Sound Effect] is set to other than [Sound Field On], the sound field setting does not apply. Selecting the sound field Press SOUND FIELD repeatedly during playback. You can also press CLEARAUDIO+, GAME and NIGHT to select respective sound field. ClearAudio+ You can enjoy the sound with Sonyrecommended sound field. Sound field is automatically optimized according to playback content and function. • 2-channel source: The system will recreate 5.1 channel speaker output. • Multi-channel source: The system outputs sound from the speakers as it was recorded. Movie The system provides the optimized sound for watching movies. Music The system provides the optimized sound for listening to music. Digital Music Enhancer [Digital Music] This is a technology developed by Sony to enhance the sound quality of compressed audio files by restoring high frequency range sound after compression process. Game The system provides the optimized sound for playing video games. Night Suitable for watching movies at night by reducing loud sounds while maintaining clear dialog. Tip • To enjoy 2-channel source such as a CD in multi-channel output, we recommend you to select [ClearAudio+]. • If you set the sound field to [ClearAudio+] and play Internet content of the Berlin Philharmonic, the [Philharmonic Hall] mode (page 30) is automatically selected (only for areas that are offered the service). 29US

Step 7: Enjoying
Surround Sound
After performing the previous Steps and
starting playback, you can easily enjoy
pre-programmed sound fields that are
tailored to different kinds of sound
sources. They bring the exciting and
powerful sound into your home.
The sound field can be selected only when
[Sound Effect] is set to [Sound Field On]
(page 57). When [Sound Effect] is set to
other than [Sound Field On], the sound
field setting does not apply.
Press SOUND FIELD repeatedly during
playback.
You can also press CLEARAUDIO+,
GAME and NIGHT to select respective
sound field.
• To enjoy 2-channel source such as a CD in
multi-channel output, we recommend
you to select [ClearAudio+].
• If you set the sound field to [ClearAudio+]
and play Internet content of the Berlin
Philharmonic, the [Philharmonic Hall]
mode (page 30) is automatically selected
(only for areas that are offered the
