• Change the channel setting for the access point. The effect of band interference may disappear and this may help to improve the communication speed. However, the communication speed for IEEE802.11g slows down automatically because IEEE802.11g retains compatibility with IEEE802.11b under mixed circumstances with IEEE802.11b. Also, channel band interference may cause a slow down in the communication speed for IEEE802.11b devices. • Set the wireless channel for the wireless LAN access point if it is used with other wireless LAN access points. Refer to the user's manual that came with the wireless LAN access point for detailed settings. • Make sure that a microwave is not used nearby. The 2.4 GHz band used by IEEE802.11b/g is a signal band shared with various devices. Using a microwave nearby when the wireless LAN is communicating may cause a decrease in communication speed and the communication distance, or interrupt the communication depending on the circumstances. Event: Can't communicate with other computers (Ad Hoc mode). Comment: If communication settings are set for use with a wireless LAN access point, communication may not be possible in Ad hoc mode. Change the communication settings according to the instructions below. 1 Click Start on the Windows taskbar and then click Control Panel. The Control Panel screen displays. 2 From the Category view, click Network and Internet Connections, and then Network Connections. 3 Right click Wireless Network Connections and click Properties. 4 Click the Wireless Networks tab. Click Advanced, select Computer-To-Computer (ad hoc) Networks Only in "Networks to access" and click Close. 5 Click OK. VGX-XL1 Digital Living System 165
