Check operation of chain brake Before starting work: Run engine at idle speed, engage the chain brake (push hand guard toward bar nose). Accelerate up to full throttle for no more than 3 seconds - the chain must not rotate. The hand guard must be free from dirt and move freely. Chain brake maintenance The chain brake is subject to normal wear. It is necessary to have it serviced and maintained regularly by trained personnel, such as your STIHL servicing dealer, at the following intervals: Full-time usage: Part-time usage: Occasional usage: every 3 months every 6 months every 12 months Winter Operation Pre-heat carburetor at temperatures under +50 °F (10 °C) 1 N loosen screw (1) using the combination wrench or a screwdriver - open at least one turn 219BA045 KN English N At temperatures above +70 °F (+20 °C): always return the slide to the summer position - NOTICE otherwise risk of engine malfunction due to overheating! If engine trouble occurs, first return the slide from winter to summer position. Air filter system N Retrofit new air filter if necessary - see "Air filter system" At temperatures below +14 °F (-10 °C) Under extreme winter conditions (temperatures below -10 °C, powdered or drifting snow), it is recommended to use the "cover plate mounting kit" (special accessory). The mounting kit keeps out powdered or drifting snow. Tighten screw
Now the carburetor is pre-heated by the
