Chapter 3: Using the remote control Learning about the remote control Only the buttons used for operating the TV are described here. Note: The error message "NOT AVAILABLE" may appear if you press a key for a function that is not available. 1 POWER turns the TV on and off. When the TV is on, the green LED indicator on the TV front will be illuminated. 2 PIC SIZE cycles through the picture sizes: Normal, TheaterWide 1/2/3, Full, 4:3, Native and Dot by Dot ( pages 33-34). Using these functions to change the picture size (i.e., changing the height/width ratio) for any purpose other than your private viewing may be prohibited under the Copyright Laws of the United States and other countries, and may subject you to civil and criminal liability. 3 PIC MODE selects the picture mode ( page 36). 4 INPUT selects the video input source ( page 29). 5 SLEEP accesses the sleep timer ( page 47). 6 FREEZE freezes the picture. Press again to restore the moving picture ( page 36). 7 Channel Numbers (0-9, -/100) directly tune channels. The button is used to tune digital channels ( page 33) or to edit the Favorites List ( page 30). 8 FAV BROWSER accesses the Favorites List in the Channel BrowserTM. ( page 30). 9 RECALL displays TV status information ( page 50). 10 CH ST cycles through programmed channels when no menu is on-screen ( pages 24-26). 11 C.CAPTION accesses the closed caption ( page 37). 12 MUTE reduces or turns off the sound ( page 38). 13 VOL + - adjusts the volume level. 14 INFO displays TV status information as well as program details, when available ( page 50). 15 EXIT closes on-screen menus. 16 ENTER activates highlighted items in the main menu system. 17 CH RTN returns to the last viewed channel or source ( page 33). 18 Arrow buttons (STWX) When a menu is on- screen, these buttons select or adjust programming menus. (Also see W/X.) 19 W/X While watching TV, these buttons open the Channel BrowserTM. and tune to the previous/ next channel in the channel history ( page 31). (Also see "Arrow buttons.") 20 MENU accesses the main TV menu system ( pages 22-23). 21 STOP Stops the tape or DVD. 22 PLAY Begins playback of a tape or DVD. 23 SKIP Skips forward to locate later DVD chapters. 24 FF Fast-forwards the tape or DVD.(Press during play mode to view the picture moving rapidly forward.) 25 EJECT Eject the tape or DVD. 26 PAUSE Press during play or record mode to pause the picture; press again to restart. 27 SKIP Skips back to beginning of current DVD chapter, or locates previous chapters. 28 REW Rewinds/reverses the tape or DVD. (Press during play mode to view the picture moving rapidly backward.) Note: You can use buttons #21 - #28 to control the connected REGZA-LINK playback device (DVD player, etc.) you are watching. However, actual functions will depend on the device connected. 21
