86 Exploring Your Computer's Features Windows Hello for Fast and Easy Login Windows Hello for Fast and Easy Login Windows Hello face authentication provides a personalized experience where your device is verified based on your physical presence and lets you skip typing in a PIN or password so you can jump right in. Log in quickly with just a smile. Windows Hello will also do more than just unlock your laptop, you can also make purchases from the Windows Store and use it in other places in the future. To use Windows Hello: 1 Sit in your usual computing position with your laptop, and position the display at a normal viewing distance. Do not position your face too close or too far away from the display. 2 Click or touch the Start ( ) button in the lower-left corner of the Desktop, or press the Windows ( ) key, and then type hello. 3 A PIN must be created prior to enrolling in Windows Hello. 4 Click or touch Set up face sign-in. 5 Click or touch Set up under the "Face" in the Windows Hello section. 6 Follow the on-screen prompts. The built-in IR camera will activate, showing an onscreen preview of your face before registering it. Toshiba recommends selecting Improve recognition during enrollment to register with and without glasses (if you wear them), as well as taking your device outside to enroll in outdoor lighting conditions. When registering outside, position yourself so that the sun is not directly behind you. It is also recommended that you select Improve Recognition for each convertible mode you are using (ex: Tablet mode). The next time you turn on or resume your device, the built-in IR camera's red light will start blinking. Look directly at the built-in IR camera to log in. Your device will greet you by name, for a simple and personalized way to kick start your day.
