Troubleshooting Problem Cause Remedy Only the center speaker outputs substantial sound. No sound is heard from the center speaker. No sound is heard from the presence speakers. No sound is heard from the surround speakers. No sound is heard from the surround back speakers. Zone 2 speaker settings are not available in "SET MENU". FRONT B speakers cannot be activated. No sound from the center, surround or surround back speakers when the FRONT B speakers are activated. Presence speaker settings are not available in "SET MENU". No sound is heard from the subwoofer. Dolby Digital or DTS sources cannot be played. (Dolby Digital or DTS indicator in the front panel display does not light up.) A humming sound is heard. The volume level is low while a record is being played. When playing a monaural source with a sound field program, the source signal is directed to the center channel, and the front and surround speakers output effect sounds. "CENTER SP" in "SET MENU" is set to "NONE". One of the sound field programs (except for "7ch Stereo") has been selected. The sound field programs are turned off. You are using a source or program combination that does not output sound from all channels. "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting other than "PRESENCE". "SUR. L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set to "NONE". This unit is in the "STRAIGHT" mode and a monaural source is being played back. "SUR. L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set to "NONE" and "SUR.B L/R SP" is automatically set to "NONE". "SUR.B L/R SP" in "SET MENU" is set to "NONE". "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting other than "ZONE2". "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting other than "FRONT B". "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to "ZONE B". "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" is set to a setting other than "PRESENCE". "LFE/BASS OUT" in "SET MENU" is set to "FRONT" when a Dolby Digital or DTS signal is being played. "LFE/BASS OUT" in "SET MENU" is set to "SWFR" or "FRONT" when a 2-channel source is being played. The source does not contain low-frequency signals. The connected component is not set to output Dolby Digital or DTS digital signals. Audio input jack select is set to "ANALOG". Incorrect cable connections. No connection from the turntable to the GND terminal. The record is being played on a turntable with an MC cartridge. Set "CENTER SP" to "SMALL" or "LARGE". Try another sound field program. Press OSTRAIGHT to turn them on. Try another sound field program. Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "PRESENCE". Set "SUR. L/R SP" to "SML" or "LRG". Press OSTRAIGHT on the front panel so that "STRAIGHT" disappears from the front panel display. Set "SUR. L/R SP" and "SUR.B L/R SP" to a setting other than "NONE". Set "SUR.B L/R SP" to a setting other than "NONE". Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "ZONE2". Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "FRONT B". Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "FRONT B". Set "EXTRA SP ASSIGN" to "PRESENCE". Set "LFE/BASS OUT" to "SWFR" or "BOTH". Set "LFE/BASS OUT" to "BOTH". Make an appropriate setting following the operating instructions for your component. Set Audio input jack select to "AUTO". Connect the audio cables firmly. If the problem persists, the cables may be defective. Connect the grounding cable of your turntable to the GND terminal of this unit.
