Using Quick Sampling 5 Press the pad that is flashing to start sampling. "Sampling" appears on the display. Flashes Sampling NOTICE Do not disconnect the USB flash drive during the sampling operation. The operation of the instrument may become unstable, and sampling may not be performed properly. NOTE You can also press the [ENTER] button to start sampling. 6 Start playback on the external device, or input sound to the microphone. NOTE If the input volume from the external device or microphone is too low, "LowInput" appears on the display and sampling is canceled. Then, the instrument returns to the status described in Step 3. 7 Stop audio input at the end of the sound or phrase you want to sample. If you are using an external device, stop playback. If you are using a microphone, stop inputting sound to it. 8 Press the lit pad again to stop sampling. "Writing!" appears briefly on the display, and then the sample is overwritten and stored. The pad's light goes off, the sampling ends, and the instrument returns to the status described in Step 2. Writing! To sample during audio playback Once you are familiar with the sampling operation, streamline the operation by starting and stopping sampling while the sound of the external device is playing back. 1. Perform Steps 2 and 3 of "Sampling External Audio" (page 43). 2. Stop playback on the external device a few measures before the sound or phrase you want to sample. 3. Start playback on the external device. 4. Press the pad that is flashing at the point where you want to start sampling. 5. When you want to stop sampling, press the pad again. 6. Stop playback on the external device, and then check what you have just sampled. NOTE If there is silence that you want to keep it in the sample, but is cut automatically, set "BlankCut" in the Function Settings (page 64, Function 048) to "OFF." PressA−D NOTE Sampling time is limited to a maximum of 9.6 seconds. When the time limit is reached, sampling stops automatically and the recorded sample (up to that point) is stored to the instrument. 9 Press the [CAPTURE] button to exit Quick Sampling mode. 10 Press the Quick Sampling pad to play back the sample. 44 PSR-E473, PSR-EW425 Owner's Manual
