A CAUTION: Sitting in a reclined position when your vehicle in motion can is be dangerous. Even you buckle up, your safety belts can't if do their jobwhen you're reclined like this. The shoulder belt can't do its job because it won't be against your body. Instead, it will bein front of you. In a crashyou could go into it, receiving neck otherinjuries. or The lapbelt can't do job either. In a crashthe belt couldgo its up over your abdomen. The belt forces would be there, not at your pelvic bones. This could causeserious internal injuries. For properprotection when the vehicle isin motion, havethe seatback upright. Then sit well back in the seat and wear your safety belt properly. Front Seatback Latches The front seatback folds forward to let people get into the back seator reach the storage area behind theseat. Your seatback will move back andforth freely, unless you come to a sudden stop. Then it will lock in place. There's one time the seatback may not fold without some help from you. That's if your vehicle is parked going down afairly steep hill. To fold a front seatback forward, push the seatback toward the rear as you lift this latch. Then the seatback will fold forward. The latch must be downfor the seat to work properly. 1-4
