9.10.2 Using the Menu 1. Press and to select ANS. MACHINE. 2. Press and to select MEMO. 3. Press to start recording the memo, and RECORDING and a timer are shown on the display. 4. Press to end your memo recording and the memo will then play back. Let it play to the end or press again to stop the playback and save the message. OR press at any time to stop the memo without saving it. Note: If the memory becomes full, during the memo recording, you will hear a tone, the recording will stop and the memo recorded will start to play back. 9.11 Incoming Call Messages (ICM) If the answering machine is ON and set for ANS & REC, when there is an incoming call, the answering machine will answer it and play the OGM, followed by a beep sound. The caller can then leave a message of up to 1, 2 or 3 minutes, or of unlimited length up to the available memory on the answering machine, as set in section 9.12.2. If the BS SCREENING is ON, the caller's voice will also be played through the loudspeaker on the base station, to allow you to screen the call and decide if you want to leave the answering machine to record the message, or if you want to talk to the caller directly. At any time if you want to pick up the call, you can lift up the corded handset or press to intercept the call and talk to the caller directly. The message recording will be stopped automatically. If the answering machine is in the process of recording, the message already stored will be saved. • You can use the corded handset, the speakerphone or the cordless handset to intercept the call to speak to the caller during ICM recording. Then the message that is currently being recorded will be saved as a new message. 60
