Advanced Configuration STP 5 • System Priority-Bridge priority is used in selecting the root device, root port, and designated port. The device with the highest priority becomes the STA root device. However, if all devices have the same priority, the device with the lowest MAC address will then become the root device. From the drop-down menu, select the value. The default value is 32768. The range is 0 to 61440 in steps of 4096. • Hello Time-Enter the interval (in seconds) at which the root device transmits a configuration message. The default is 2 seconds. The range is 0 to 10 seconds. • Max Age-Enter the maximum time (in seconds) a device can wait without receiving a configuration message before attempting to reconfigure. The default max age is 20 seconds. The range is 6 to 40 seconds. • Forward Delay-Enter the maximum time (in seconds) this device will wait before changing states (i.e., discarding to learning to forwarding). The default is 15 seconds. The range is 4 to 30 seconds. STEP 3 Configure the STP port settings. • Port-Displays the port number. • Enable STP-Check the check box to enable STP on the port. • Port Fast-Check the check box to enable Port Fast on the port. If Port Fast mode is enabled for a port, the Port State is automatically placed in the Forwarding state when the port link is up. Port Fast optimizes the STP protocol convergence. • Path Cost-The path cost is used to determine the best path between devices. The default value is auto. STEP 4 Click Save.
