Installation and Configuration 5-9 For detailed information about configuring the drives using the Array Configuration Utility, see the Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 User Guide or the Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4100 User Guide. For information about configuring your shared storage subsystem with RAID, see Chapter 4, "Cluster Planning." Installing GBIC-SW Modules for the RA4000 Array Controllers Each RA4000/RA4100 Array contains two Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 Controllers (RA4000 Array Controllers) and ships with four GBIC-SW modules. Insert one module into an RA4000 Array Controller and the other module into a Storage Hub, FC-AL Switch, or Fibre Channel SAN Switch. Each end of the Fibre Channel cable connecting an RA4000 Array Controller to a Storage Hub, FC-AL Switch, or Fibre Channel SAN Switch plugs into a GBIC-SW module. To install GBIC-SW modules: 1. Insert a GBIC-SW module into each RA4000 Array Controller in an RA4000/RA4100 Array. 2. Insert a GBIC-SW module into the correct port on each affected Storage Hub, FC-AL Switch, or Fibre Channel SAN Switch (one module for each RA4000 Array Controller). 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other RA4000/RA4100 Arrays in the redundant Fibre Channel Fabric or redundant FC-AL. Cabling the Storage Hubs or Switches to the RA4000 Array Controllers You can configure a redundant Fibre Channel Fabric or a redundant FC-AL for an active/standby configuration or an active/active configuration. These types of configurations indicate the state of the Fibre Host Adapters in each node. In an active/standby configuration, one Fibre Host Adapter in each cluster node is connected to an active RA4000 Array Controller and the other Fibre Host Adapter in each cluster node is connected to a standby RA4000 Array Controller.

Installation and Configuration
5-9
For detailed information about configuring the drives using the Array
Configuration Utility, see the
Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 User
Guide
or
the
Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4100 User Guide.
For information about configuring your shared storage subsystem with RAID,
see Chapter 4,
Cluster Planning.
Installing GBIC-SW Modules for the RA4000
Array Controllers
Each RA4000/RA4100 Array contains two Compaq StorageWorks RAID
Array 4000 Controllers (RA4000 Array Controllers) and ships with four
GBIC-SW modules. Insert one module into an RA4000 Array Controller and
the other module into a Storage Hub, FC-AL Switch, or Fibre Channel SAN
Switch. Each end of the Fibre Channel cable connecting an RA4000 Array
Controller to a Storage Hub, FC-AL Switch, or Fibre Channel SAN Switch
plugs into a GBIC-SW module.
To install GBIC-SW modules:
1.
Insert a GBIC-SW module into each RA4000 Array Controller in an
RA4000/RA4100 Array.
2.
Insert a GBIC-SW module into the correct port on each affected Storage
Hub, FC-AL Switch, or Fibre Channel SAN Switch (one module for
each RA4000 Array Controller).
3.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other RA4000/RA4100 Arrays in the
redundant Fibre Channel Fabric or redundant FC-AL.
Cabling the Storage Hubs or Switches to the
RA4000 Array Controllers
You can configure a redundant Fibre Channel Fabric or a redundant FC-AL
for an active/standby configuration or an active/active configuration. These
types of configurations indicate the state of the Fibre Host Adapters in each
node.
In an active/standby configuration, one Fibre Host Adapter in each cluster
node is connected to an active RA4000 Array Controller and the other Fibre
Host Adapter in each cluster node is connected to a standby RA4000 Array
Controller.
