Preparing the Replacement Node Several steps should be performed on the replacement node before it is integrated into the cluster. Prior to integrating the node into the cluster, perform the following steps: 1. Connect the server for the replacement node to the cluster interconnect components and the client LAN. Power on the replacement node. Although physically connected to the cluster, the node is not yet integrated into the cluster. 2. Start the replacement node with the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD in the CD-ROM drive. 3. Use the Compaq System Configuration Utility to configure the hardware settings of the node and its adapters. 4. Use the Compaq Array Configuration Utility to configure the server's local non-shared disks with RAID.
