Management application server running in Windows 2008 By default, when the Windows 2008 Firewall state is set to On, all inbound connections to the host are blocked. To allow clients from other hosts to access the Management application server, you must change the Inbound connections setting to Allow as follows: 1. Select Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager The User Account Control dialog box opens. 2. Click Continue. 3. Under Security Summary, click Go to Windows Firewall. 4. Click Windows Firewall Properties. The Windows Firewall with Advanced Security dialog box opens. 5. Based on the Active Profile for your configuration, on the Inbound connections list, select Allow. NOTE: Windows Firewall with Advanced Security supports separate profiles (sets of firewall and connection security rules) for computers that are members of a domain, or connected to a private or public network. Once the Allow option is selected in the Inbound Connections drop-down list, you can launch the client to the server running on a 2008 host. For more information about Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, see the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security Getting Started Guide, at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc748991(WS.10).aspx 6. Click OK to save the change. You are now able to launch the client to the server. Launching the client from Windows 2008 host to Management application server By default, Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) is enabled in Windows 2008. If you attempt to launch client from the 2008 host to another host in which the Management application server is running, the following warning message appears: You are attempting to download a file from a site that is not part of your Trusted Sites and that may be different from the Web site you are viewing. To download the client, click Add to add the site (Server IP) on which the Management application server is running. If you do not want to see the warning message again, disable the IE ESC as follows: 1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer. 2. Select Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager. 3. On the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue. 4. Under Security Summary, click Configure IE ESC. 5. Under Administrators, click Off. 6. Under Users, click Off.
