First then press press 6 Menu then press 6 Ring and Beep Volume The HP OfficeJet provides four options for the volume of its rings and beeps. 6 Menu then press 7 Automatic Reduction The Automatic Reduction setting determines what the HP OfficeJet does if it receives a fax too large for the paper size you set in Basic Fax Setup: On: Reduces the fax to fit the paper size setting in Basic Fax Setup Off: Prints the fax at actual size on multiple sheets of paper 6 Menu then press 8 6 Menu then press 9 Silent Detect The Silent Detect setting controls whether you can receive faxes from older-model fax machines that don't emit a fax signal. These silent models represent less than 5% of fax machines in use. Leave Silent Detect off unless all of the following are true: l You expect to receive a fax from an older-model machine. l Your telephone answering machine is connected directly to the HP OfficeJet. l The HP OfficeJet is set to Auto Answer (green light on the keypad is on). Country and Language This feature does not apply in certain countries. Use this setting if you entered the wrong number when identifying your country or language in the initial setup.
