Top cover Description Top cover NOTE: The top cover kit includes the TouchPad assembly. With fingerprint reader Without fingerprint reader Spare part number 651761-001 650404-001 Before removing the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 36). 5. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 50). 6. Remove the fan (see Fan on page 53). Remove the top cover: 1. Position the computer right-side up, with the display open. 2. Open the TouchPad cable ZIF connector (1) and disconnect the cable (2). 3. Open the TouchPad button cable ZIF connector (3) and disconnect the TouchPad button cable (4). 4. Open the fingerprint reader cable ZIF connector (5) and disconnect the cable (6). Component replacement procedures 55

Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
36
).
5.
Remove the keyboard (see
Keyboard
on page
50
).
6.
Remove the fan (see
Fan
on page
53
).
Remove the top cover:
1.
Position the computer right-side up, with the display open.
2.
Open the TouchPad cable ZIF connector
(1)
and disconnect the cable
(2)
.
3.
Open the TouchPad button cable ZIF connector
(3)
and disconnect the TouchPad button cable
(4)
.
4.
Open the fingerprint reader cable ZIF connector
(5)
and disconnect the cable
(6)
