Statement 3 CAUTION: When laser products (such as CD-ROMs, DVD drives, fiber optic devices, or transmitters) are installed, note the following: v Do not remove the covers. Removing the covers of the laser product could result in exposure to hazardous laser radiation. There are no serviceable parts inside the device. v Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein might result in hazardous radiation exposure. Danger Some laser products contain an embedded Class 3A or Class 3B laser diode. Note the following. Laser radiation when open. Do not stare into the beam, do not view directly with optical instruments, and avoid direct exposure to the beam. Touch the static-protective package that contains the drive to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove the drive from the package and place it on a static-protective surface. 7. Set any jumpers or switches on the drive according to the documentation that comes with the drive. 8. Remove the drive retainer clip (located on the side of the drive cage) for the bay in which you want to install the drive (see the illustration on page 27). Slide the drive retainer clip to the left to remove it from the drive cage; then, snap the drive retainer clip into the screw holes on the side of the drive (the blue side of the drive clip should be facing outward). 9. Align the drive assembly with the guide rails in the bay. Push the drive into the bay. Note: Only an optional diskette drive can be installed in bay 3. 10. Connect one end of the signal cable into the back of the drive and make sure that the other end of this cable is connected into the IDE connector on the system board. 11. Route the signal cable so that it does not block the airflow to the rear of the drives or over the microprocessor and DIMMs. 12. If you have another drive to install or remove, do so now. 13. Connect the power cable to the back of the drive. The connectors are keyed and can be inserted only one way. 26 xSeries 100 Type 8486: User's Guide
