Super VHS ET (VHS deck only) Your VCR is equipped with Super VHS ET that makes it possible to record with S-VHS picture quality on VHS cassettes. ENGAGE S-VHS ET MODE 1 Press S-VHS ET on the VCR. You can check the current setting ("S-VHS ET : ON" or "S-VHS ET : OFF") if "SUPERIMPOSE" is set to "ON" (੬ pg. 27). If "S-VHS ET : OFF" appears on the TV screen, press S-VHS ET again in about 5 seconds to set it to "ON". ● The S-VHS indicator lights up on the front display panel. NOTES: ● You cannot activate the S-VHS ET function... ...while recording is in progress. ...while timer-recording (incl. Instant Timer Recording ੬ pg. 49) is in progress. ...while Video Calibration (੬ pg. 34) is in progress. ...when the VCR's power is off. ● S-VHS ET does not work with S-VHS tapes. EN 39 S-VHS ET This facility allows recording with S-VHS picture quality on VHS cassettes. You can play back those cassettes recorded in S-VHS ET on a VCR equipped with S-VHS ET. NOTES: ● To obtain the highest quality recording and playback pictures over a longer period on this model, S-VHS recording on S-VHS tape is recommended. ● You can play back S-VHS ET recordings not only on this VCR but also on another VHS VCR equipped with S-VHS ET. * It is recommended to specifically label S-VHS ET recordings so you can easily distinguish them from regular VHS recordings. ● S-VHS ET recordings can also be played back on an SVHS VCR or a VHS VCR equipped with SQPB (S-VHS QUASI PLAYBACK) function. However, there may be cases where S-VHS ET playback is not possible on a particular VCR. ● Frequent still, frame-by-frame and slow-motion playback may damage the tape and cause picture degradation. ● With some tapes, better picture quality may not be obtained even with S-VHS ET recording. It is recommended that you do test record beforehand to make sure whether better results can be obtained. ● High Grade tapes are recommended for superior results. ● Make sure that "VIDEO CALIBRATION" is set to "ON" at the Function screen (੬ pg. 34). ● During S-VHS ET playback, noise may appear depending on tape quality. ● Noise may appear during still, frame-by-frame and slow- motion playback. ● If the playback picture becomes blurred or interrupted, use a cleaning cassette.
