48 EN Auto SP→EP Timer (VHS deck only) If, when recording in SP mode, there is not enough tape to record the entire program, the VCR automatically switches to EP mode to allow complete recording. This feature is especially handy when recording a program of more than 2 hours in length. For Example . . . Recording a program of 140 minutes in length onto a 120minute tape Approximately 110 minutes Approximately 30 minutes SP mode EP mode Total 140 minutes Make sure you set "AUTO SP→EP TIMER" to "ON" at the VHS Mode Set screen before the timer recording starts. ACCESS MAIN MENU SCREEN 1 Press MENU. ACCESS VHS MODE SET SCREEN 2 Move the highlight bar (arrow) to "VHS MODE SET" by pressing %fi, then press OK or #. 3 SELECT AUTO SP→EP TIMER SET MODE Move the highlight bar (arrow) to "AUTO SP→EP TIMER" by pressing %fi, then press OK or # to set to "ON". VHS MODE SET S-VHS MODE OFF VIDEO CALIBRATION ON PICTURE CONTROL AUTO FRONT AUX INPUT VIDEO = AUTO SP=EP TIMER ON BLUE BACK ON NEXT PAGE SELECT WITH (5,∞) AND (OK) PRESS (MENU) TO END RETURN TO NORMAL SCREEN 4 Press MENU. TIMER RECORDING (cont.) Auto Timer When the Auto Timer is set to "ON" the timer is automatically engaged when the VCR's power is turned off. It is automatically disengaged when the VCR is powered back on. ACCESS MAIN MENU SCREEN 1 Press MENU. ACCESS MODE SET SCREEN 2 Move the highlight bar (arrow) to "MODE SET" by pressing %fi, then press OK or #. 3 SELECT AUTO TIMER SET MODE Move the highlight bar (arrow) to "AUTO TIMER" by pressing %fi, then press OK or # to set to "ON" or "OFF". MODE SET REAR AUX INPUT OUTPUT1 2ND AUDIO RECORD =AUTO TIMER =SUPERIMPOSE VIDEO AUTO OFF ON ON SELECT WITH (5,∞) AND (OK) PRESS (MENU) TO END RETURN TO NORMAL SCREEN 4 Press MENU. NOTE: For safety, when "AUTO TIMER" is set to "OFF", all other VCR functions are disabled while the Timer mode is engaged. To disengage the timer, press TIMER. NOTES: ● If you have programmed the VCR to timer-record 2 or more programs, the second program and those thereafter may not fit on the tape if you set the Auto SP→EP Timer mode to "ON". In this case, make sure the mode is not engaged, then set the tape speed manually during timer programming. ● In order to ensure that the recording fits on the tape, this feature may leave a slight non-recorded section at the end of the tape. ● There may be some noise at the point on the tape where the VCR switches from SP to EP mode. ● The Auto SP→EP Timer feature is not available during ITR (Instant Timer Recording), and the feature will work with the following tapes: T(ST)-30, T(ST)-60, T(ST)-90, and T(ST)-120.
