Troubleshooting General Troubleshooting (Some Quick and Easy Tips for Resolving Problems) Symptom Possible Cause(s) Possible Solution(s) Software Problems Cannot direct enter channel number or "No Signal" appears. No channels present after setup. Channel not included in channel lineup in TV controller (PTC). Auto Tuning (channel search) not run. After 2-5-5 + MENU (Commercial Mode Setup) or Express Script, only channels included in PTC will appear. If channel is available, it can be added to channel lineup. If it is not available, the "No Signal" message appears on the TV screen. Refer to Commercial Mode Setup or Express Script procedure, as appropriate. Auto Tuning must be run in order for the channel lineup to be populated. Note for Express Script: You must select "Execute Auto Search" in the Auto Search screen to run the search (see page 17). To reinitiate the Express Script, set Installer Menu item 117 FACT DEFAULT to 001. Power No power. See troubleshooting flow chart on following page. Display Panel Picture No picture. Display panel is turned off. Erratic Operation Installer Menu setup. Installer Remote Remote doesn't work. Antenna/cable not connected. Connections incorrect. MPI not connected. Encrypted program. Wrong tuning band. Wrong Installer Menu settings. Remote not in TV Mode. Not aimed at IR remote sensor. Remote too far from IR sensor. MPI not connected. IR path to TV's receiver obstructed. Weak batteries. Wrong battery polarity. Too much light in room. Bed Switch set to wrong bed. Wrong Installer Remote. • Turn TV ON. • Power failure? Connect antenna/cable signal to TV. Check connections on TV. If applicable, connect MPI cable to MPI device. Try another channel. Adjust Installer Menu settings. Adjust Installer Menu settings as required. Use MODE key to select "TV"; puts remote into TV Mode. Point remote at TV's IR receiver on TV. Move remote closer to TV's IR receiver or darken room. If applicable, connect MPI cable to MPI device. Remove obstructions. Replace batteries. Check that "+" and "-" match in battery compartment. Dim room light. Set Bed Switch or update Installer Menu, as necessary. Requires compatible Installer Remote. Contact your LG dealer. Picture Reception Normal picture, poor or no sound. Audio muted. Broadcast problem. Pillow Speaker Switch setting. Press MUTE or use Volume Up key to increase sound level. Try a different channel. Check Pillow Speaker Switch setting. If set to Normal, sound will be heard on TV speakers. If set to Pillow, sound will be heard on pillow speaker. Note: For other problems not caused by the TV, refer to the other devices' operating guide(s). 40 206-4096
