2 Product Description The Forms and Bar Code Card lets supported single-function and multi-function printers print a wide variety of the most popular industry-standard bar codes. The Forms and Bar Code Card generates bar codes algorithmically in PCL5 or PostScript emulations. A supported printer with the Forms and Bar Code Card includes support for: • OCR-A and OCR-B as bitmap and scalable fonts • Independently scalable bar heights and widths • The ability to embed text with selectable positioning • Data format verification with error reporting • Automatic bar code data compression when required • Automatic bar code checksum calculation and character placement, when required • Automatic placement of special characters (prefix, start/stop, guard bars, and so on) when required Also, in PCL5 emulation, a supported printer with the Forms and Bar Code Card: • Is the functional equivalent of HP Bar Codes & More font set, plus: • Is a compatible alternative to an HP LaserJet with HP BarDIMM Pro (v3.3a), including the FREESCAPE alternate escape code feature The CD that comes with the Forms and Bar Code Card contains: • Forms and Bar Code Card User's Guide • Visual Bar Code Designer, a software utility that puts most of this document's detail into a user-friendly bar code design graphical interface to easily generate PCL5 and PostScript data • SAP R/3 device types and associated installation instructions • Some demonstration and test files • A Readme file that includes download information, requirements, and installation instructions Follow the instructions in the readme file located in the root directory of the CD to access these items. The items are available in English only. Developers should be familiar with the standard that defines the bar code symbology being implemented. The incoming data is analyzed for valid parameters, such as string length and string characters. When an invalid condition is detected, an error message is generated.
