❚❚ Manual Choose a flash level between Full and 1/128 (1/128 of full power). At full power, the built-in flash has a Guide Number of 12/39 (m/ft., ISO 100, 20°C/68°F). ❚❚ Repeating Flash The flash fires repeatedly while the shutter is open, producing a strobe-light effect. Press 4 or 2 to highlight the following options, 1 or 3 to change. Option Description Output Choose flash output (expressed as a fraction of full power). Choose the number of times the flash fires at the selected Times output. Note that depending on shutter speed and the option selected for Frequency, the actual number of flashes may be less than selected. Frequency Choose how often the flash fires per second. A Flash Control Mode The flash control mode for the built-in flash is shown in the information display. A "Manual" and "Repeating Flash" Y icons blink in the control panel and viewfinder when these options are selected. A The SB-400 When an optional SB-400 flash unit is attached and turned on, Custom Setting e3 changes to Optional flash, allowing the flash control mode for the SB-400 to be selected from TTL and Manual (Repeating flash and Commander mode options are not available). A "Times" The options available for Repeating Flash > Times are determined by flash output.
