■ THX Ultra2/Select2 Subwoofer ` No ` Yes If you're using a THX-certified subwoofer, set this setting to "Yes". Note • If the "Subwoofer" setting is set to "No", this setting cannot be selected (➔ page 52). ■ BGC ` Off ` On You can apply THX's Boundary Gain Compensation (BGC) to compensate the perceived exaggeration of low frequencies for listeners sitting very close to a room boundary (i.e., wall). Note • This setting is only available if "THX Ultra2/Select2 Subwoofer" is set to "Yes". • If the "Subwoofer" setting is set to "No", this setting cannot be selected (➔ page 52). ■ Loudness Plus ` Off ` On When the "Loudness Plus" is set to "On", it is possible to enjoy even subtle nuances of audio expression at low volume. This is only available when the THX listening mode is selected. ■ Preserve THX Settings ` Yes ` No If this setting is set to "Yes", Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume and Dolby Volume have no effect in THX listening mode. Note • This setting is fixed to "Yes" if "Loudness Plus" is set to "On". Audio Adjust Main menu Audio Adjust With the Audio Adjust functions and settings, you can adjust the sound and listening modes as you like. Multiplex/Mono ■ Multiplex Input Channel ` Main ` Sub ` Main/Sub This setting determines which channel of a stereo multiplex source is output. Use it to select audio channels or languages with multiplex sources, multilingual TV broadcasts, and so on. ■ Mono Input Channel `Left + Right ` Left ` Right This setting specifies the channel to be used for playing any 2-channel digital source such as Dolby Digital, or 2channel analog/PCM source in the Mono listening mode. Output Speaker ` Center: Mono audio is output by the center speaker. `Left / Right: Mono audio is output by the front left and right speakers. This setting determines which speakers output mono audio when the Mono listening mode is selected. Note • If the "Center" setting is set to "None" (➔ page 52), this setting cannot be selected. THX Loudness Plus THX Loudness Plus is a new volume control technology featured in THX Ultra2 Plus™ and THX Select2 Plus™ Certified receivers. With THX Loudness Plus, home theater audiences can now experience the rich details in a surround mix at any volume level. A consequence of turning the volume below Reference Level is that certain sound elements can be lost or perceived differently by the listener. THX Loudness Plus compensates for the tonal and spatial shifts that occur when the volume is reduced by intelligently adjusting ambient surround channel levels and frequency response. This enables users experience the true impact of soundtracks regardless of the volume setting. THX Loudness Plus is automatically applied when listening in any THX listening mode. The new THX Cinema, THX Music, and THX Games modes are tailored to apply the proper THX Loudness Plus settings for each type of content. Dolby ■ PL IIx Music (2ch Input) These settings apply to only 2-channel stereo sources. If you're not using any surround back speakers, these settings apply to Dolby Pro Logic II, not Dolby Pro Logic IIx.
