Controlling Other Components-Continued Using Macros You can program the remote controller's MACRO buttons to perform a sequence of actions. Example: To play a CD, you typically need to perform the following actions: 1. Press the [RECEIVER] REMOTE MODE button to select the Receiver remote controller mode. 2. Press the [ON] button to turn on the AV receiver. 3. Press the [CD] INPUT SELECTOR button to select the CD input source. 4. Press the [CD] REMOTE MODE button to select the CD remote controller mode. 5. Press the Play [ ] button to start playback on the CD player. You can program a MACRO button so that all five actions are performed with just one button press. The Remote indicator lights up. For the CD example in the left column, you'd press and hold the [RECEIVER] REMOTE MODE button, and then press MACRO button [1], [2], or [3]. 2 On the remote controller, press the buttons whose actions you want to program into the macro in the order you want them per- formed. For the CD example in the left column, you'd press the following buttons: [ON], INPUT SELECTOR [CD], REMOTE MODE [CD], Play [ ]. 3 When you've finished, press the MACRO button again. The Remote indicator flashes twice. If you enter eight commands, the pro- cess will finish automatically. Note: • If one or more of the buttons you used to make a macro are taught new commands, the macro will no longer work properly and will have to be made again. Running Macros 1 Press the MACRO [1], [2], or [3] button. The commands in the macro are transmitted in the order in which they were programmed. Keep the remote controller pointed at the AV receiver until all of the commands have been transmitted. Macros can be run at anytime regardless of the current remote controller mode. Deleting Macros 1 While holding down the [RECEIVER] REMOTE MODE button, press the MACRO button whose macro you want to delete. 2 Press the MACRO button again. 90
