California safe drinking water and toxic enforcement act The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act requires the Governor of California to publish a list of substances known to the state to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm and requires businesses to warn customers of potential exposure to such substances. Gas appliances can cause minor exposure to four of these substances, WARNING namely, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and soot, caused primarily by the incomplete combustion of natural gas or LP fuels. Properly adjusted burners, indicated by a bluish rather than yellow flame, will minimize incomplete combustion. Exposure to these substances can be minimized by venting with an open window or by using a ventilation fan or hood. In the commonwealth of massachusetts This product must be installed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter qualified or licensed by the State of Massachusetts. When using ball-type gas shut-off valves, they shall be the T-handle type. Multiple flexible gas lines must not be connected in series. 10_ important safety instructions FX710BGS_FX510BGS_DG68-00356A-01.indd 10 2011-08-19 4:25:41
