You will need a small Phillips screwdriver for this procedure. Preparing to install memory with Windows 98 Second Edition Before you can install a memory module, you must first shut down the computer. To do this in Windows 98 Second Edition: 1 Press Fn and F3 simultaneously to display the Shutdown mode pop-up window. 2 While continuing to press Fn, press F3 until you select Shut down. 3 Release Fn. The Shutdown mode pop-up window disappears. 4 Click Start, then click Shut Down. Windows displays the Shut Down Windows dialog box. 5 Select Shut down the computer, then click Yes or OK, as appropriate. Windows shuts down and automatically turns off the computer. Preparing to install memory with Windows NT Before you can install a memory module, you must first shut down the computer. To do this in Windows NT: Part I: Getting to Know Your Computer
