Learning the Basics Playing a CD or DVD 85 5 Gently press the center of the disc onto the spindle until it locks into place. Spindle Disc Correct position Incorrect position Incorrect position Positioning the disc on the spindle CAUTION: Make sure the disc is properly positioned on the spindle. If you position the disc incorrectly, it can jam the disc tray. 6 Close the disc tray by pressing gently on the center of the tray until it clicks, indicating that it is locked. Removing compact discs To remove a compact disc (CD or DVD) with the computer turned on: 1 Press the eject button on the drive. CAUTION: Do not press the eject button while the in-use indicator light is glowing. Doing so could damage the disc or the drive. Also, if the disc is still spinning when you open the disc tray, wait for it to stop spinning before you remove it. 2 Pull the tray until it is fully open, remove the disc, and place it in its protective cover. 3 Gently push the tray in to close it.
