94 Learning the Basics Using Turn Off Computer ❖ No power is used while the computer is shut down. This is the most efficient mode if you will be away from your computer for an extended time. ❖ Restarting from Turn Off or Shut down uses the most time and battery power. When starting up again, the system does not automatically open programs and files you were using. To turn off the computer: 1 Click Start, select Turn Off Computer. The Turn off computer box appears. Sample Turn off computer dialog box 2 Click Turn Off. The computer shuts down completely. Shutting down more quickly You can also shut down the computer by pressing the power button or closing the display panel. To use either of these methods, you first need to turn on the feature in Toshiba's Power Saver utility. 1 Click Start, then click Control Panel. The Control Panel appears. 2 Click the Performance and Maintenance icon.
