Follow the suggested solutions until the problem is corrected. If the problem persists, please call for service. Problems at Installation PROBLEM Grinding noise at power up. PROBABLE CAUSE Scan Lock SUGGESTED SOLUTION Power down. Locate the Scan Lock switch on the underside of the scanner. Make sure that the Scan Lock has been moved to the unlock position ( ). Smears, lines, marks or spots on copies. Packing material remains in tray(s) Power down. Remove all remaining packing material from the trays. Document Glass or Document Clean the Document Glass and the underside Feeder of the Document Feeder. ) Refer to the User Guide for cleaning instructions. Irregular faded patches Original Toner unevenly distributed Paper Quality Verify there are no defects on the original. Remove the toner cartridge. Shake it gently to distribute the toner evenly.
