Notes • When you select an input source, this unit automatically selects the last sound field program used with that source. • Sound field programs cannot be selected when the MULTI CH INPUT is selected. PLAYBACK Additional operations ■ To adjust the tone TONE CONTROL You can adjust the bass/treble balance for the front left/right and center channels. Press TONE CONTROL repeatedly on the front panel to PROGRAM select TREBLE or BASS. Select TREBLE, then rotate PROGRAM to the right or left to increase or decrease the high- frequency response. Select BASS, then rotate PROGRAM to the right or left to increase or decrease the low-frequency response. To cancel the tone control, press TONE CONTROL repeatedly to select BYPASS. Notes • If you increase or decrease the high-frequency or the low-frequency sound to an extreme level, the tonal quality of the surround speakers may not match that of the front left/right and center speakers. • TONE CONTROL is not effective when THX (page 48) or PURE DIRECT (page 38) is selected, or when MULTI CH INPUT is selected. • If headphones are connected to this unit, the Tone Control setting adjusts the bass/treble balance of your headphones (see page 60). ■ To mute the sound Press MUTE on the remote control. The MUTE indicator flashes on the MUTE front panel display. To resume the audio output, press MUTE again (or press VOL -/+). BASIC
OPERATION
Remote control operation
Set AMP/SOURCE/TV to AMP, then press one of
the sound field program buttons repeatedly to
select the desired program.
The name of the selected program appears in the front
panel display and video monitor.

Choose a sound field program based on your listening preference,
and not on the name of the program.
When you select an input source, this unit automatically selects
the last sound field program used with that source.
Sound field programs cannot be selected when the
MULTI CH INPUT is selected.
To adjust the tone
You can adjust the bass/treble
balance for the front left/right and
center channels.
Press TONE CONTROL
repeatedly on the front panel to
select TREBLE or BASS.
Select TREBLE, then rotate
PROGRAM to the right or left to
increase or decrease the high-
frequency response.
Select BASS, then rotate PROGRAM to the right or left to
increase or decrease the low-frequency response.
To cancel the tone control, press TONE CONTROL
repeatedly to select BYPASS.
