How to Add Coolant to the Coolant Recovery Tank If you haven't found a problem but the coolant level yet, isn't ator above theCOLD mark, add a50/50 mixture of clean water (preferably distilled) andDEX-COOL" (orange-colored, silicate-free) antifreeze atthe coolant recovery tank. (See "Engine Coolant"in the Index for more information.) NOTICE: In cold weather, water can freeze crack the and engine, radiator, heater core and other parts. Use the recommended coolant and the proper coolant mix. A CAUTION: - Adding only plain water to your cooling system can be dangerous. Plain water, some other or liquid like alcohol, can boil beforethe proper coolant mix will. Your vehicle's coolant warning system is set for the proper coolant With mix. plain water or the wrong mix, your engine could get too hotbut you wouldn't get the overheat warning.
