2.14 Remote Diagnostic Management Remote Diagnostic Manager (RDM) is a server management tool that uses modems and telephone lines to control a host of servers from a remote station. In the event of failure, RDM monitors and analyzes the server condition, updates the BIOS settings if necessary, reboots the server, and quickly returns it to normal operation. This capability to execute the RDM functions from a remote site bridges the distance barrier in fixing server problems and reduces server down time. 2.14.1 Installing the RDM Module The system board comes with the RDM module installed. Follow these steps if you need to re-install the RDM module and connect the cable: 1. See Figures 2-1 and 2-2 for the location of the RDM connectors. 2. Gently insert the RDM module into CN30 and CN33. The module fits only in one direction. Do not force it into the connectors. 3. Connect the RDM LED (CN38). Remote Diagnostic Management

Installing the RDM Module
The system board comes with the RDM module installed.
Follow these steps if you need to re-install the RDM module and connect the cable:
1.
See Figures 2-1 and 2-2 for the location of the RDM connectors.
2.

The module fits only in
one direction.
Do not force it into the connectors.
