42 3 System upgrade To install memory module: 1 Perform steps 1 through 3 of the previous section. 2 Select an empty DIMM slot. 3 If necessary, open the holding clips of the selected DIMM slot. 4 Remove the new memory module from its protective packaging, handling it by the edges. 5 Install the new memory module. (1) Align the module so that the notch on the slot fits the keyed edge of the module, then press the module at both ends until the retaining clips snap into place. If you insert a module but it does not fit easily into the slot, you have inserted it incorrectly. Reverse the orientation of the module and insert it again. (2) Make sure to firmly press the retaining clips inward to lock the module in place. If the holding clips do not close, the module is not properly inserted. 6 Observe the post-installation instructions described on page 26. The system automatically detects the amount of memory installed. Run the BIOS setup utility to view the new value for total system memory.

To install memory module:

Perform steps 1 through 3 of the previous section.

Select an empty DIMM slot.

If necessary, open the holding clips of the selected DIMM slot.
