Chapter 9 Maintaining Your iSCSI Storage Appliance This chapter describes how to use Adaptec Storage Manager to configure the UPS monitor, blink devices, shut down and restart your iSCSI Storage Appliance, change the appliance settings, and update the Adaptec OnTarget operating system. Note To add and configure a new iSCSI Storage Appliance after initial IP SAN setup is complete, see "Adding an iSCSI Storage Appliance" on page 92. Configuring the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Monitor You can use Adaptec Storage Manager to set the UPS monitor settings for each iSCSI Storage Appliance in your IP SAN. You can set customized UPS monitor settings for each separate iSCSI Storage Appliance. You can monitor the UPS using either a USB or SNMP connection. Note If the UPS broadcasts that it's about to shut down, your iSCSI Storage Appliance will also shut down if it is connected to the UPS through an SNMP connection. To configure UPS monitor settings: 1 In the Enterprise view, select the iSCSI Storage Appliance. 2 In the Actions menu, select Configure UPS monitor. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Configuration window opens.

Maintaining Your iSCSI Storage
Appliance
This chapter describes how to use Adaptec Storage Manager to configure the UPS
monitor, blink devices, shut down and restart your iSCSI Storage Appliance,
change the appliance settings, and update the Adaptec OnTarget operating system.
For more information about your iSCSI Storage Appliance, see “Your Snap Server
700i Series” on page 189.
Note
To add and configure a new iSCSI Storage Appliance after initial IP SAN
setup is complete, see “Adding an iSCSI Storage Appliance” on page 92.
Configuring the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
Monitor
You can use Adaptec Storage Manager to set the UPS monitor settings for each
iSCSI Storage Appliance in your IP SAN. You can set customized UPS monitor
settings for each separate iSCSI Storage Appliance.
You can monitor the UPS using either a USB or SNMP connection.
Note
If the UPS broadcasts that it’s about to shut down, your iSCSI Storage
Appliance will also shut down if it is connected to the UPS through an SNMP
connection.
To configure UPS monitor settings:
