www.dell.com | support.dell.com Desktop Chassis • Removing front-panel buttons • Replacing front-panel buttons Removing Front-Panel Buttons (Desktop Chassis) CAUTION: Before you perform this procedure, see "Precautionary Measures." 1 Turn off the computer and peripherals, disconnect them from their electrical outlets, wait at least 5 seconds, and then remove the computer cover. 2 Lay the computer cover upside down, with the back of the cover facing you. 3 Remove the front-panel buttons: • To remove the 3.5-inch diskette-drive eject button, pull gently on the button until its clip disengages the front panel of the computer cover. Lift the button up to free it from the cover. • To remove the power button, use a small screwdriver to push in the two plastic clips that secure the button to the computer cover. When the clips disengage, the button comes free from the front panel of the computer cover. • To remove the reset button, use a small screwdriver to push in the three plastic clips that secure the button to the computer cover. Turn off the computer and peripherals, disconnect them from their
electrical outlets, wait at least 5 seconds, and then
remove the
computer cover
.

Lay the computer cover upside down, with the back of the cover facing
you.

Remove the front-panel buttons:
°
To remove the 3.5-inch diskette-drive eject button
, pull gently on the
button until its clip disengages the front panel of the computer
cover. Lift the button up to free it from the cover.
°
To remove the power button
, use a small screwdriver to push in the
two plastic clips that secure the button to the computer cover.
When the clips disengage, the button comes free from the front
panel of the computer cover.

To remove the reset button
