Chapter 2 Setup Connecting the Optional External Buzzer When the optional external buzzer (model: OT-BZ20) is connected to the drawer kick connector of the printer, you can set the printer so that it beeps when you send commands, when an error occurs, when executed autocutting, and when detected paper end. Settings for sound patterns and frequency depending on the occasions the buzzer beeps are also available. You need to set with the memory switch (customized values) for buzzer enable/disable setting, sound pattern setting, and frequency setting. For information about the memory switch (customized values), see "Software Settings" on page 47. • Be sure to turn off the printer before you connect/disconnect the optional external buzzer. • Do not connect both the optional external buzzer and the cash drawer to the printer at the same time by using a branched connector. Volume adjustment knob Attachment Position The optional external buzzer is recommended to be installed in the following positions. • When using the printer in top eject position: either side • When using the printer in front eject position: side or top Top eject position (Viewed from the front) Front eject position (Viewed from the front) • Do not install the optional external buzzer at the roll paper exit. • To prevent liquid from entering inside, it is recommended to install the optional external buzzer so that the volume adjustment knob is positioned sideways or downward. 34

Connecting the Optional External Buzzer
When the optional external buzzer (model: OT-BZ20) is connected to the drawer kick connector of the printer,
you can set the printer so that it beeps when you send commands, when an error occurs, when executed
autocutting, and when detected paper end. Settings for sound patterns and frequency depending on the
occasions the buzzer beeps are also available.
You need to set with the memory switch (customized values) for buzzer enable/disable setting, sound pattern

Attachment Position
The optional external buzzer is recommended to be installed in the following positions.
When using the printer in top eject position:
either side
When using the printer in front eject position:
side or top
Be sure to turn off the printer before you connect/disconnect the optional external buzzer.
Do not connect both the optional external buzzer and the cash drawer to the printer at the
same time by using a branched connector.
Do not install the optional external buzzer at the roll paper exit.
To prevent liquid from entering inside, it is recommended to install the optional external buzzer
so that the volume adjustment knob is positioned sideways or downward.
