TouchPad module Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the service cover (see Service cover on page 30). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 32), 6. Remove the fan (see Fan on page 45). 7. Remove the card reader board (see Card reader board on page 44). 8. Remove the system board (see System board on page 47). 9. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 55). Remove the TouchPad board: 1. Turn the top cover upside down, with the back edge toward you. 2. Remove the 4 Phillips PM2.5×3.0 PM screws (1) that secure the TouchPad to the top cover, and then remove the 2 mylar covers (2). 3. Rotate the TouchPad board.(3) upward. 4. Remove the TouchPad board and cable (4) from the top cover. Reverse this procedure to install the TouchPad board and cable. Component replacement procedures 57

TouchPad module
Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn

Remove the TouchPad board:
1.
Turn the top cover upside down, with the back edge toward you.
2.
Remove the 4 Phillips PM2.5×3.0 PM screws

that secure the TouchPad to the top cover, and
then remove the 2 mylar covers

3.
Rotate the TouchPad board.

4.
Remove the TouchPad board and cable

from the top cover.
Reverse this procedure to install the TouchPad board and cable.
