Special keys Component (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) esc key fn key Windows key Action keys num lk key Integrated numeric keypad Description Displays system information when pressed in combination with the fn key. Executes frequently used system functions when pressed in combination with another key. Such key combinations are called hot keys. See Hot keys (select products only) on page 17. Opens the Start menu. NOTE: Pressing the Windows key again will close the Start menu. Execute frequently used system functions. See Action keys on page 16. Turns the embedded numeric keypad on and off. - or - Alternates between the navigational and numeric functions on the integrated numeric keypad. A separate keypad to the right of the alphabet keyboard. When num lk is pressed, the integrated keypad can be used like an external numeric keypad. NOTE: If the keypad function is active when the computer is turned off, that function is reinstated when the computer is turned back on. Keyboard area 15
