Power button board Description Power button board assembly Spare part number L14374-001 Before removing the power button board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 34). 5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see Battery on page 47). Remove the power button board: NOTE: The power button board sits under the right display hinge. You do not have to remove the display to remove the board, but you do have to rotate the right display hinge upward to gain access. 1. Remove the two Phillips M2.5×5.0 screws (1) that secure the right display hinge, and then rotate the hinge upward from atop the power button board (2). 2. Disconnect the cable from the power button board (3). 3. Remove the Phillips M2.0×3.0 screw (4) that secures the power button board to the computer. 4. Before removing the power button board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by
first
unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see
Bottom cover
on page
34
).
5.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see
Battery
on page
47
).
Remove the power button board:
NOTE:
The power button board sits under the right display hinge. You do not have to remove the display to
remove the board, but you do have to rotate the right display hinge upward to gain access.
1.
Remove the two Phillips M2.5×5.0 screws

that secure the right display hinge, and then rotate the
hinge upward from atop the power button board

Disconnect the cable from the power button board
(3)

3.
Remove the Phillips M2.0×3.0 screw
(4)
that secures the power button board to the computer.
4.
Remove the power button board from the computer
(5)
.
Reverse this procedure to install the power button board.
