Hardware Upgrades Installing or Removing an Expansion Card Your computer contains expansion slots that can be used to upgrade or add components to your computer. Removing an Expansion Slot Cover 1. If you have locked the Smart Cover Lock, use Computer Setup to unlock the lock. 2. Shut down the operating system properly, then turn off the computer and any external devices. 3. Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet, then disconnect any external devices. 4. Remove the computer access panel and locate the correct vacant slot in the computer chassis. 5.
