Required hardware and software The following table lists the hardware and software required to boot from a SAN. Table 3 Required hardware and software Supported feature Requirement Operating systems Datacenter Enterprise and Standard editions of: • Windows Server 2003 for Itanium-based systems. • Windows Server 2003 with SP1 for Itanium-based systems. • Windows Server 2003 x86/x64. • Windows Server 2008 x86/x64 NOTE: All operating systems requires the latest supported Microsoft Service Pack. RAID arrays Fibre Channel switches Servers EVA MSA XP All HP supported Fibre Channel switches, running the latest released switch firmware are supported in a Boot From SAN configuration.
