If the System Will Not Power On Perform the following steps: 1. Verify that all cables and power cords are firmly plugged into their proper receptacles. 2. Verify that all parts of the system are turned on and properly adjusted. 3. If the server is plugged into a switched multiple-outlet box, verify that the switch on the outlet box is turned on. 4. Plug a different electrical device (such as a printer) into the power outlet and turn it on. If it does not function, there is a problem with the electrical supply. If the System Powers On but the System Fails the Power-On Self Test Perform one of the following steps: • If you hear a series of beeps when you turn on the NetServer, this indicates a system error. Contact HP or your reseller. • If the system fails the Power-On Self Test (POST) and an error message displays on the screen, see the section "Error Messages." If the suggested solutions do not solve your problem, contact HP or your reseller. If the System Passes the POST But Will Not Function If an error message displays on the screen, read the error message text for actions to take. If the actions do not solve your problem, contact your reseller. If there is no error message, perform the following steps: 1. Check to ensure that the HP NetServer is configured correctly in the EISA Configuration Utility. 2. If the server still does not work, turn it off and remove all external peripherals, except the monitor and keyboard. Test to see if the server now works. 35
