Unpack the processor shipping box and check the contents against its packing list. CAUTION Ensure the processor module remains sealed in the antistatic bag until you are ready to install it. 2. Remove the desired processor from the sealed bag. 3. Open the latches on top of the processor module. See Figure 2-7. 4. Align the new processor in front of the next available slot. The heat sinks for processors 1, 2, and 3 face away from the system board and the heat sinks for processors 4, 5, and 6 face toward the system board. See Figure 2-7. 22

Installing the Processor
1.
Unpack the processor shipping box and check the contents against its
packing list.
CAUTION
Ensure the processor module remains sealed in the antistatic
bag until you are ready to install it.
2.
Remove the desired processor from the sealed bag.
3.
Open the latches on top of the processor module. See Figure 2-7.
4.
Align the new processor in front of the next available slot.
The heat sinks for processors 1, 2, and 3 face away from the system board
and the heat sinks for processors 4, 5, and 6 face toward the system board.
