Heat sink for discrete graphics memory Description Heat sink for discrete graphics memory (for products with Intel 6th generation processors only) Heat sink for discrete graphics memory (for products with Intel 7th generation processors only) Spare part number 857895-001 915470-001 Before removing the heat sink for discrete graphics memory, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the following components: a. Battery (see Battery on page 34) b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 35) c. Base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 37) d. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 39) e. SSD (see SSD (M.2) on page 42) f. Disconnect the WLAN cable (see WLAN module on page 45) g. Remove the fan (see Fan on page 50) Remove the heat sink for discrete graphics memory: 1. Following the sequence stamped into the heat sink, remove the six Phillips M2.0 x 4 screws (1) and then carefully lift the heat sink (2) to remove it from the system board. NOTE: Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal material located between the heat sink and the system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach it. Before removing the heat sink for discrete graphics memory, follow these steps:
1.
Turn
off
the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by
first
unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the following components:
a.

Remove the fan (see

Remove the heat sink for discrete graphics memory:
1.
Following the sequence stamped into the heat sink, remove the six Phillips M2.0 x 4 screws
(1)
and then
carefully lift the heat sink
(2)
to remove it from the system board.
NOTE:
Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal material located between the heat sink and the
system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach it.
